FED:Sections of Habib review classified: govt

Federal Attorney-General ROBERT MCCLELLAND says only parts of a report into Australia's
role in the arrest of former Guantanamo Bay detainee MAMDOUH HABIB will be made public.

The Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security is reviewing the role Australian
security agencies played in Mr HABIB's overseas arrest and detention between 2001 and
2005.

Mr MCCLELLAND says he isn't sure when the report will be released .. but expects sections
of it will remain classified.

Prime Minister JULIA GILLARD ordered the inquiry in January amid claims Australia had
been complicit in Mr HABIB's 2001 CIA rendition to Egypt .. where he was detained and
tortured.
