VIC: Boat stolen youth arrested
MELBOURNE, Dec 11 AAP - A 17-year-old youth was arrested after police thwarted an attempt
to steal a fishing boat in Melbournes bayside south early today.
When police were called to Mordialloc Creek boat moorings at about 3.30am they found two
people in an 18-metre half-cabin fishing boat moving down the creek.
The pair jumped into the water and swam away, police said.
A police spokesman said the youth was arrested nearby a short time later.
A police dog and water police were used in the search for a second person but he eluded
them.
Police expected to lay charges against the arrested youth.
